Helltarn (/helltarn/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Small Town located in Qiku Rûchà Vabâ Kingdom, Emada County, within the Kingdom of Helsteria.

The name Helltarn is derived from the Sylvin language, as Helltarn was founded by Grelêb Carson Copeland, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Helltarn has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 21°C (69°F). Helltarn receives an average of 140 cm/y (55 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Helltarn covers an area of nearly 3 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 5438 m (17841 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Helltarn was founded durring the late 14th century in fall of the year 1294, by Grelêb Carson Copeland. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Helltarn was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Helltarn is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Helltarn is buildings folow an organic layout of crampt flagstone streets whihch gives the town a shape simmilar to a tree, if one views its streets from above. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. Helltarn's robustly designed timber walls has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

Helltarn has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Helltarn’s streets. In spite of this, quite a few people can be seen reading and the town has an abundance of libraries. It’s quite clear the community values education.

Civic Infrastructure

Helltarn has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Helltarn.

Helltarn has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Helltarn has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Helltarn has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Helltarn's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Helltarn has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Helltarn has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Helltarn's locals are divided into several castes. They may be organized by social role, by imputed nobility of birth, by ethnic origins, or any other dividing principle, but they cannot imagine any other way of organizing themselves. A hierarchy of castes is not inevitable, but there will be social and legal limits applied to ensure that each caste remains fixed in its function. The outside world may or may not respect these distinctions when dealing with the locals.

Helltarn's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

In Helltarn during thunderstorms, with each flash of lightning, everyone sees different monsters from the corner of their eyes.

The Giant cockroach near Helltarn are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Helltarn's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves destroying a prepared ritual vessel to channel Invocation energies of tier 1 via guttural bellowing.
